Rich Piana started his professional career by winning the NPC Mr. Teen California competition in 1989. By 1998, he was named NPC Mr. California. He continued to compete on and off until 2011, winning NPC competitions in the 2003 Los Angeles Super-Heavyweight division, 2009 Sacramento Super-Heavyweight division, and the 2009 Border States Classic Super-Heavyweight division and overall championship.

Since the founding of 5% Nutrition in 2014, Rich Piana has had the support of a global social media following. Importantly, Rich knew what he did not know and wisely partnered with industry experts and veterans of the sports nutrition and bodybuilding world to create supplements that were great tasting, efficaciously dosed, and featured premium ingredients.
Rather than fold when we lost our leader, we took a page right from Rich Piana's mentality and pushed through the pain of his loss. We were able to persevere and reorganize around a future without a living legend. We work each day to develop new formulas and expand the product lineup while staying true to Rich's vision when he founded the company.
